Day care, Play school, Pre school - Where should your kid start school?

Bangalore is a peculiar city. No wonder the President of USA keeps the name of the city in his speeches. The Silicon Valley of India and the Information Technology (IT) capital of the world has its own share of characteristics. One of them is kids going to school very early.

Not the kind of school the kids born before the turn of the century went to.

The Bangalore kids go to institutions called by many names - day care, play school, pre-school, child care, learning centers etc.

In Bangalore there are two categories of schools for kids.

The kinds of schools:
  1. Schools exclusive for kids: These schools are focused exclusively on children in age group 1-5 years. They do not have higher classes and as such not are affiliated to secondary education boards like ICSE, CBSE and state boards. They strive to give more attention to kids and their learning. They also prepare the kids well to get into full service schools. Example - Kidzee, EUROKIDS etc.
  2. Normal fulls service schools: These school may have there own section of school for kids but focus more on higher classes. Kids in their own pre-school section may get preference while taking admission in higher classes.

The above views are based upon my conversation with few parents who have had experiences of sending their kids to the above categories of schools.
